the only real new year's resolution I had was to stop procrastinating, self-doubting/loathing, and basically just to trust my gut and "go for it" when I want to do something or have something (I know it sounds like more than one resolution but it's basically all part of the same attitude). TL;DR I just bought an electric guitar. it was there, it was affordable, and most importantly, it's not something like First Act (it's a Squier). I still need to get an amp, but if you'd told me I'd buy an electric within the first week of the new year even around Christmas, I'd have thought you were nuts.

Oh, and the fact that I practiced at all over the holidays was an accomplishment (for me), but I got more in than I thought I would. Sensei is pleased Very Happy

Awesome, man.

Squires are very nice guitars and basses to start on. You can't really go wrong with them. All I say is don't go with any piece of shit amp. You need something with distortion, reverb etc etc, 'cos otherwise it'll sound like shit. Playing without effects is boring anyway.

it'll probably be a while before I get an amp anyway
I'm sticking to my guns about learning how to play an acoustic first
which is coming along nicely but I still have a way to go
