Since the mugshots thread was partially derailed... Kaizy brought up a good point. It wasn't a weapons thread. So here's a weapons thread. Post photos of your delicious weapons, whether they be tazers, swords, firearms, crossbows, battle axes, or anything of the sort... POST IT HERE! For the gun nuts or LARPERS or History Reenactment fans, this will practically be the same as a porn thread, but totally safe for work. So, here's a start: Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special, 5 round snub-nosed revolver. The Undercover, and an H&R Sportsman 999 .22 LR, 9 round revolver. My brother with a Winchester M1897, and me with my Marlin 336 (30-30 Lever-Action). And, finally, the most recent addition to my gun collection. Ruger 10/22, Synthetic stock. Let the Boomstick Boners begin.

| Yeah, basically posting pics of yourself that could easily be misread as "future suicidal rampage here!" for all to see. Exceptionally SFW... | |

| My "collection", as it were, has suffered to the vagaries of unemployment and fiscal necessity, so I'm down to just one pistol and one rifle. Ruger SP-101 in .357 Magnum: Pimped out, yo. M1 .30 Carbine: This was my grandfathers. He did serve in WWII, as a mechanic, and as such would have been issued an M1 carbine. He said he mailed it back to himself in pieces after the war. My dad believes he bought it second-hand after M1's started appearing on the market in the '60s. In any case, it's current for the period, with a barrel stamp of Underwood 9-42, and a receiver stamp of Inland; those and the serial number place it manufactured around 1942. The sling is not standard issue. In any case, it's a family heirloom of sorts and is the one gun I won't sell for needed cash. | |

Y'all mix up your definitions for "Firearms enthusiast" and "Rampage Shooter" up in Canuckistan. - katmandu wrote:

Very nice. My family has a few heirloom rifles. We own a Winchester pump-action .22 rifle from 1906, that was bought by a family member around the same time. And it has been passed down for several generations. It's excellent that your rifle has a story.

| My father gifted me a rifle allegedly used in the Spanish civil war, with a custom carved wooden stock. But then when I came out he took it away again =/ | |

apparently so do enough employers in Americopolis to warrant the sheer volume of articles I come across that could save a lot of words by basically saying "don't post anything on the internet, ever, if you don't want to be out of a job". or is that another example of American news' tendency to play to people's paranoia for the sake of hits?

It all depends on the location. If you're in a region that values firearms ownership, or has a positive opinion of firearms ownership, then it can be a boon. If I lived in, say, California, or Washington D.C., though, it'd be a different story. If I lived in California, ownership of a rifle with a 30-round clip is a criminal offense. However, in Reality (The other 49 states), it isn't.

| So I have two weapons in my household, one in my name. Here's my Mosin Nagant 91/30 1943 Izhevsk Arsenal. In need of some upgrades and a repair, but a great gun none the less. And heres the second, this is my fathers rifle that was handed down to him by his Uncle, just needs the iron sight centered and its ready to go again. But I lack the funds right now for rifle repair. Its a Sport King .22 LR, I've never heard of the brand before until I looked at the gun today. | |

| I somehow ended up reading TG crime statistics again and I'm scared. I need a handgun ASAP. Unfortunately ASAP is like, 3 months ;_;
I've pushed my motorcycle purchase up though, and that probably does more for my self-defense than the gun tbh (since it gets me away from public transit and from having to walk the streets all too much). Maybe I should get a knife as a stop-gap self-defense option. Colorado forbids ownership of knives over 5 inches (from hilt to tip) though, and I dunno how effective that is. The exception is if you can prove you use it for hunting or for a trade. Edit: Apparently, it's just that the blade needs to be 3.5" or less.

I don't think that walking around with a machete is cool with most people, anywhere other than the Amazon rainforest. You should just buy a powerful laser and permanently blind people who threaten you. - Ahkmill wrote:

Funny story, last night my friend and I had to go pick up a friend from a bad part of town, and since I couldn't find my dagger or KA-BAR I decided to take the next smallest thing. An 18 inch machete I picked up two weeks prior for $5 new.

Okay, first thing... How do you lose knives? You'd better check in between the couch cushions! Secondly, only 18 inches? What if you get mugged by a fencer? What would you do then, smart guy?

| If you get mugged, you should just give up your money. If you have a lot of money you should keep it somewhere other than your wallet. I just worry about self-defense because some people literally hunt transfolk for sport. In most situations I'm perfectly happy to give a potentially violent person whatever the hell they want in exchange for not being violent. | |

And HA HAA, I took fencing becoming quiet proficent in the use of a sabre which is actually not much longer than a machete. I've made the comparison using my Cavalry Sabre, the hilt and grip are much larger then a machete limiting the moves they can do which are more precise than using something blunt and crude like a machete.

But... what if they have a Franklinator? Don't get me wrong, but in a tactical situation, short blunt and clumsy is better than long sharp, and precise. Only if they made a lunge, or aimed immediatly for the neck would they be able to end me before I used the sheer force and weight to bash my way through the bone. They would have to kill me using a sabre. If they had a Franklinator, id use the Bender version in my tool box.
