I start to walk through the doorway as I feel the situation calm for a moment. Then in a mere second it happened. For a fraction of that second I felt the rush of hot air at my back, then another fraction I could feel I was being lifted. And in less than a hundreth of that second I heard it. It exploded and the concussion lifted me forward into the access throwing me against a wall. It wasn't enough to knock me out though.

"Fff..uck."

I raised my hands to my right ear which was piercing with pain. The explosion had burst my ear drum as I felt the blood drain. I looked around a bit but all I could see was smoke and dust.

I fall on the ground after james pulls me in, before hitting the ground I feel a rush of air and look up to see Octavious flying over me swearing, "Well would you look at that he's flying all fast like." and I get flipped over onto my backin the blast as bits of rock and dust cut my face and arms that I am holding in front of my head to shield it, when the explosion ends, "Somehow I feel like this might all be my fault." I say it with a sarcastic tone. I hardly hear myself past the ringing in my ears.

Having had an optimal position at the time of the explosion, I'm shaken, but not badly hurt. I wait for my ears to stop ringing, but they don't. My companions look absolutely devastated. Warily, I peek out of the doorway. The bomb completely detonated; had we taken another moment to get into this room we'd have been filled with shrapnel. Octavious looks like he took the brunt of it, so I tend to him first. I wave my hand back in forth in front of his eyes. I'm not totally sure what I'm doing, but the television shows broadcast in the vault had some cliché tropes for me to emulate.

"How many fingers am I holding up?"

I just laid there for a minute and looked around. Taz was on the ground and looked like death was creeping up closer to him. The smoke still shrouded my vision when I saw james. He kept waving his hand infront of me and his mouth was moving but all I heard was ringing and the low thumping of rocks and gunfire from above. I grabbed his arm which was waving infront of my face. I loosened my grip and moved my hands down to my flak jacket. I opened the front of it and it was like a god send. The sidden relase of pressure and the rush of air into my lungs made me feel alive again. I drew a deep breath gasping and coughing. I just dropped my head back against the ground for a minute. I looked around again and my Service Rifle was mangled by the explosion. The stock was broken in two on the back and the foregrip was cracked up the middle and missing chunks of wood. The top sight was also bent down in the middle.

"Sh...shi...shit."

I started to sit up as James wennt over to taz. I looked around again and closed my eyes for a moment. The explosion was harsh, but. It wasn't as bad as I had expected to be honest. I sat up and pulled myself over to the wall. I reached into my pocket on my blouse and pulled an old crush pack of cigarettes and a bronze lighter. I tucked three in my mouth and lit each.
"You...you guys...want one." I sputtered out still shaken.
I took a deep drag off the three cigarettes and pulled two out for the others.

"Sounds like you had an exciting time Mr. Octavious."

I continue laying on my back staring at the ceiling of the old sewer.

"I think we almost died." I throw a rock upwards and continue staring, "soooo, who else can see just fine down here? Anyone dying?"

James did not respond because he was a taco.

Suddenly, it began to rain taco meat.

A Pre War Era tank (probably a T72) manned by members of the Mexican Militia, a tribe centered in the remnants of South America, arrives in response to the downpour of beefy goodness. They are pissed that so much good taco meat is going to waste.

The tank commander is wearing one badass sombrero. On the tank's side is the word "Pendejo" for no reason at all.
