Except they're the exact same problems we all expected would be resolved with a new engine. The exact same problems: random crashes, getting stuck on world geometry, NPCs blocking your path, etc. It looks nicer than previous games, but that seems to be all it improves over.

nah, it's a few contributing factors that add to the overall differences.
the way you move around feels a LOT more solid. like you actually feel like you're pulling your own weight, rather than just feeling like you're controlling some gravity mindfuck. your character in skyrim has fluid movement, rather than just having a preset "walk left" "walk right" "walk forward" animation, leaving the diagonal movements looking awkward as hell.
plus the combat is pretty different. it's overall the same "press this button to attack like a madman" but you can use finishing moves, and stuff like that.
it's small things that just make it feel overall different from the other games

I still don't know if that's enough to make me cop this or just wait for the next Fallout which it can be assumed will use the same engine. If I'm going to suffer through yet another time sink of a game, it should probably be one I'm already sorta familiar with. I never played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games.

Not only that, but things like making food. In oblivion its like this, bread+ham+cheese+lettuce=drinkable potion (aka, not a goddamned ham sandwich) while in skyrim its more like this cooked beef+salt+other ingredients=beef stew. Of course though my favorite is the water. *kills person and goes dragging their body to a bridge and throws it off* HAHAAA, TAKETH THAT EVIL DOER. *body floats back up and never moves from that spot* ...shit... *drags to middle of a giant fucking river and leaves body, body stays* While in skyrim its more like this. *kills person and goes dragging their body to a bridge and throws it off* HAHAAA, TAKETH THAT EVIL DOER. *watches body float down river, hit rapids and do a wicked flip through the air* HOT DAMN. Not to mention when im mid conversation with someone and leave them, or a dragon swoops down and takes that mofo for a ride.

That cracks me up, did the poster actually believe the vote would pass for something so trivial? I mean really, it's based on their opinions alone, which seemingly not many people agree with xD
Signatures needed by December 24, 2011 to reach goal of 25,000: 24,385 Lmao, most of those are fake names too.
Anyways, I'm in 5 frags because I've been trying to ignore Skyrim since it came out, I fucking loved Oblivion, Skyrim looks so much better in every way, and its fucking everywhere! I'm going to have to give in and get the game.
I'll probably pop in here again with more questions later, but whats on my mind now is what's the level cap?
I was on UESP wiki checking the game out and I noticed Deadric armor doesn't spawn until you're level 48, and the vanilla level cap in Oblivion was 50, which took fucking ages to get to (mind you, I knew every glitch in the game including one that can allow you to gain levels beyond level 50)
So what I'm asking is does it take a long time to get to level 48? Skyrim's Deadric armor is just too fucking sweet, but IMO all the armor looks way cooler than in oblivion.
Also, just thought of another question; Is there a dupe/cash glitch?
It might ruin the gameplay a little but I remember the first time I played Oblivion having no money sucked ass... Also, training sessions!
Oh, another question came to me. Do the body physics in Skyrim reflect that of Fallout 3?
I always wished I could lop off arms and decapitate my foes in Oblivion xD
Gore = Win.

Same
I am still having trouble deciding which race... I think I will go with Nord but Khajiit, and Argonian, and Wood Elf are also high on my list... I think I'll pick Nord because heavy armor and weapons look badass and it's the best choice for the storyline and setting.

Go argonian, because when shit hits the fan, jumping off a bridge or high ledge/cliff into water and staying far below so no one can hurt you is always the best bet.

Helmets and faceplates fit fine, and not everyone. Besides waterbreathing is unbeatable for searching shipwrecks, sunken barrows, flooded ruins without worry, not to mention the diease resistance at 50%, only reason I contracted the vampire disease was because I kept repeating Potemas (the Wolf Queen) quest for Solitude.

So I caved and got it today. Plus the guide. Pre-emptive "fuck you" to anyone that bought the extra special one that comes with a dragon figure. Way to tell the corporate world about gamers "yes, it's true what you think about us, we are basically overgrown children. whoo, a fuckin' toy". Asshole...
