found out why my urine kills plants:

i have a ridiculously high protein consumption. i produce enough ammonium to actually poison plants with the very nitrates that can be used to sustain them.

on that note, if i mix it with some some ash and dead leaves and straw i can make a killing off the resulting fertiliser.
