fuck it. I picked up my pen tablet for the first time in over a month, drew something that came out decent for a few minutes, then I made the mistake of continuing. so I just deleted it


I just completely lack the ability to make things NOT look like 2D cardboard cut outs

One day you'll learn the magic of saving multiple revisions. It's sort of like making a save file in a video game every twelve seconds so you can go back and fix any mistakes. Just, every time you're happy with the way something looks, save it again. Eventually your art folder will look like;

furryporn000.xcf
furryporn001.xcf
furryporn002.xcf
furryporn003.xcf
...
furryporn998.xcf
furryporn999.xcf

And hopefully you're done by then because you're out of numbers.

anyway, I streamed art tonight. nothing special, but it helped me get over my fear of drawing in front of people. my eyes started straining too much to continue

Protip: don't smudge pencil with your fingers, it just creates a horrible mess after you store a drawing in a sketchbook for a while. I try to avoid smudging at all now when I'm shading, and either hatch or shade smoothly with the side of my pencil. It looks sharper and will last longer because it won't have your finger oils all embedded in the grain of the paper picking up stray graphite. If you still want to, do it at the very end, and with paper or a tissue instead. (I still wouldn't recommend it but it's personal preference)
