I could write an obnoxious amount of words on this subject but in short it just makes everything really awkward and uncomfortable if one party doesn't want the same sort of relationship that the other wants.

nope. it's purely my favorite animal. I mean sure, every now and then, a furry will anthrotize a dolphin enough to look sexy, but that's only if they also add a human dick, instead of their creepy prehensile cone shaped dicks...

So basically you're saying I have some of the kinks and stuff I do because I'm unfit to breed and this is just natures way of helping me ensure my genes die out? Thanks, Nature, but I didn't need your help figuring out what I already knew.

The odd thing is, I'm incredibly conservative and old-fashioned when it comes to relationships, when that works. It just often doesn't. I mean really, life would be a hell of a lot simpler and easier if we all had the same preferences, wouldn't it? It's just we don't. I didn't really choose to have the fantasies I do. I'm downright ashamed I have some of them. But what can I do? Everything I've read says there's really no cure for my "condition", except death, or at least a life more conducive/tolerant to the "real" me.

I think some people are happier than others keeping their fantasies, well, fantasies. I consider the people who want a relationship blooming with romance and emotional depth just as fucked up and out of touch with reality as people who lust after the weird S&M or AB/DL relationships that they read in yiff comics, because I can't imagine there are very many people with the emotional or mental bandwidth to just be gushing with passion all the time.

There's no one-size-fits-all mold to govern how to live your life though, and the attitude that there is probably causes close to 100% of the suffering (both internal and external) in the world. If I met someone without all the unrealistic expectations and fantastical notions of what relationships (or life in general) are supposed to be and we managed to have enough in common to be compatible that'd be just fine.

So far all the people I've managed to get close to wanted something out of me I couldn't give them (my autonomy and by extension my future) or had some sort of other weird hangups I couldn't get over (and likely vice versa). So at this point I've made peace with the idea that I am just one of those people who is supposed to be alone, and will likely be happier for it.
