it's weird. my family has this image of me, that I'm a quiet person who keeps to himself, when really, I'm the complete opposite. I just don't feel the need to be myself around them

I've been listening to Italians argue for years against their own whiteness on various grounds, one reason being that for the longest time, the architects of white supremacism didn't consider them white. However, ask a black racialist what they think and they'll most likely tell you that's a moot point because eventually the rest of whites got over that and Italians could "assimilate" to varying degrees. However, it's the argument I hear least from Italians even though it makes the most sense. Frankly most of them just latched on to the single-origin hypothesis and figured since they're geographically closer to Africa, that makes them closer to blacks than, say, Brits or Germans. Which is a load of crap and frankly it was always invoked on hip hop forums when they (and by they I mean the people who would become Jersey Shore "guidos") just wanted n-word privileges.

I'm not racist (not believing in race beyond anything but a social construct), but I'm not always so certain that, culturally, a leopard can change its spots. Never mind that it's the secret wish of virtually every culture to conquer and obliterate all others anyway. I think it's just a healthy cynicism when one came pretty damn close to think they would again given the chance. Same reason I don't trust the Russians or Chinese.
