Mojave or Capitol Wasteland (Fallout RP)

Before starting any Fallout rp, due to the amount of possibilities in an effort to make as many happy as possible, here is a poll. We also need to decide what time frame and a few other things like time frame and rules.

I like the Mojave wasteland setting. The only problem is that its familiarity might actually make it harder to RP, whereas a new setting would give people more artistic freedom, so to speak. (IE, we set it in the Mojave and I bet everyone is going to be a courier, own a caravan company, or etc). One possibility is to set it in the Wyoming area which, according to what I'm guessing is canon, is where the Great Khans flee to during the Hoover Dam battle, eventually building a great empire with the help of the Followers of the Apocalypse. That seems like it would be a cool setting for an RP. On the other hand, that could also make it harder to RP since Wyoming is as far as I can tell, outside the territory of the BoS, the Enclave, Caesar's Legion and basically every other faction except for the two aforementioned. Could be remedied by having people play as scouts or diplomats or etc for various larger factions, though.

I think a new area would be good, but I still like the Mojave. That's one reason I added the time frame in the OP because the Mojave could still be done in Pre-House time which adds the casinos as more open areas like for livin and such. Not to mention Searchlight wouldn't be irradiated, Cottonwood Cove could be under other occupation or abandoned, not to mention Hoover Dam and the lack of NCRCF with a greater BoS presence. It provides a whole new bed to build upon for quests and such. Just changing the time changes so much, infact just going a year back from New Vegas you've eliminated the Powder Gangers, Cottonwood Coves legion occupation, Nipton is as shameful as ever, Primm is booming, and Searchlight is a good example of Pre-War values and what it used to be like. Going back 30 years, hell only thing that's close to it in 2281 is the landscape and locations. As Doc Brown says, you gotta think 4th dimensionally.

I dunno. Prequels force you to work harder to maintain continuity, and they're kind of boring because you already know the ending. I vote for a setting after the events of New Vegas. Also, I want to be a BoS paladin, pretty much regardless of the setting. I think the character fits my personality type well.

It again depends on how far back you go. I think 30 years back you wont have to do a whole lot to keep continuity considering that major forces like Ceasers Legion and the NCR decide to duke it outer and Mr. House creates a Triple Enténte set up on the strip and could estusentially turn over anything that a group could do in only a matter of years, unless of course its irreversable like destroying the strip or dam. The further back we go the less of an impact we would have unless of course we wiped out a major faction. I would be a Desert Ranger, the survivalist nature of them and the moral side of their organization.

My only problems with the Capitol are the limited gun selection, and the actual terrain and size, it feels so small and the towns just so detatched from one another. In the Mojave there just seems to be so much more moving about and space to do so. There's also the terrains of moutain ranges then canyons, shore lines, and flats. Don't get me wrong I love the the locations in 3 but the ones in New Vegas are great for me, you have isolation and civilization in the same general area, like I have one house I've stocked full of Tommy Guns, 1911s, hunting rifles and bombs of and such, in full view of the Lucky 38. There were times where in 3 id be lost completely and have no idea where my little cache of ordinace was.

My vote's on capitol wasteland, even though Fallout 2 is my favorite.

I think I don't know what the hell I would do in the RP, considering I've never played any of the Fallout games and would therefore be useless.

What about something that allows for more creativity besides JUST Fallout? That seems to be the only choice of RP threads and votes so far. I think we're a more adventurous bunch than that.

I still think if you judt read the info on fallout.wikia.com you should get the basic idea on locations and weapons, of course dependant on which local and such we go with. I can help you set up a character if you want.

Okay then, we seem to be at a almost complete tie, save for Fallout 1 era. Seems likely were gonna need multiple threads for this. What if wemake one for the Capitol Wasteland including the DLC areas, and expand it farther so that we get even more new areas and do the same with the Mojave Wasteland. It gives us the best of as many worlds as possible. We get cake and get to eat it too then go back for seconds. There's the familiarity of the locations we know, love and have treaded over and the artistic freedom of new areas that we can create on our own. This would only leave us to decide the time frame and if nessecary the popular outcome of the games. This sound good to everyone?

That's why I think the seperate threads would be the best option, we have people who would only want to rp in the Capitol and others who would only want to rp in the Mojave. With the two we all get what we want, I actually liked your idea of expanding the playing field of the Mojave because, I feel too farmiliar there sometimes. Not saying I don't wanna go there, far from it. But the new lands to explore that come from your mind, my mind, and everyone elses provide for some fun times.

So, two more questions then. One, with each of the seperate threads, which time span should we go for? I personally think that for the Mojave one it should be right after the First Battle of Hoover Dam or in the years preceding like 2275-2279, things would be close to how it was before the courier for the New Vegas area, Zion would be without Joshua Graham, New Canann would be open, Big Mountain would be about the same since the Docs only know to hate Dr. Mobius appearently, no one likes the Sierra Madre, and I may be wrong, but Hopeville should be standing. I think Thayli should take the helm though on the Capitol, that being your area of expertise.

Question Two, who all wants to be in the rps? (Both Mojave and Capitol?)

I'd be in the Mojave, I guess, but I'd probably be bad at it in the context you laid out. I also think that occasional crossovers should be allowed (maybe orchestrated via PM)

Im all for crossovers. But for the timespan, the only major things would be more NCR grip on the region in the areas the currently control and Legion pretty much stuck to the one side with raiding parties still causing some mayhem. Not many other changes. If I get at a computer or something I can draw up some lines of NCR and Independent areas in the Nevada area. If you'd like of course, I was merely suggesting the 2275-2279 era because it seems like a good time era. If we go for a post-Second battle I think it could be harder because there isn't the pressure of war breathing down your neck and the distraction of war to keep the authority occupied a bit more.

What about 2283-2286? I thought of a way to make it work today in 2 of my classes.
