Ive got a friend Ive known since middle school, and his family has always treated me like family, even after I moved away from Arizona and when Im down there to visit once a year, theyre all great people and theyre like a family to me
So my friend texts me this morning, and he tells me his father has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer...

Today, I officially declare this the shittiest fucking day of the year, nothing pleasant has ever happened on this day, and then I find out one of my best friends parents might be dying...seriously, fuck today

Yeah, like the day before the day before V-Day, some guy whose house I helped work on and worked at a computer shop my mom goes to was found dead of a heart attack. And what's more fucked up is of the 3 people who work there, he was the youngest and thinnest. One of the other guys is a (iirc) type-2 diabetic and the other guy, I don't know what's going on with him but he looks like a coronary waiting to happen and reeks of bacon. Plus Whitney Houston dying. Fucked up shit always seems to happen around this time of year.

Today... didn't go as well as I'd hoped.

So last Thursday, my girlfriend got this new game. I think it's called Dragon Master or Dragon Something-or-other, for the DS. The only time she takes a break longer than 8 hours from it is when she sleeps.

I thought today, being Valentine's Day, would be different, especially considering we hadn't seen each other for like five days. We went to her house to watch movies; I brought One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, she'd told me she wanted to see it and it wasn't on Netflix. Not even 20 minutes in she turns on the game, and stays glued to it all night long. Awesome. So I asked her to take me home early, making the "I'm tired" excuse. Which really wasn't much of an excuse, since I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night and had to walk almost all the way to work today. The drive home was silent and I didn't even kiss her goodbye before I got out of the car.

it probably isn't 100% your fault that you can't really form basic friendships even with people that are far more accommodating/understanding of you than you realize, even after they repeatedly forgive you when you treat them like a fucking door mat.
