The problem is getting somebody we can trust to put together the computer system and make it completely unhackable and perfect.

Imagine if we hired Microsoft to do it. The voting machine would bluescreen every five-thousand votes and force us all to start over.

There's actually some valid arguments for keeping the electoral college system, given that the US is a federal system... for one, it gives more of a say to smaller states who would normally be over-powered by more populous states with several large cities. That being said, there are compelling arguments for direct popular election, as well.

On the other hand, I voted for Emperor Palpatine.

I dont care who you are, if you vote for Romney, I am disowning you as a friend
You can vote for whoever else you want, hell throw in a ballot for Bugs Bunny for all I care, but if you vote for that assfuck Romney, you are dead to me

Also, if you dont vote, its like voting for Romney, so vote for someone at least

If enough people were sure that their candidate was going to win so they got lazy and didn't bother voting, then their candidate would probably lose. So doing too well in the polls might actually hurt candidates in theory.
