Now that just ain't true. Its harder than you think to use a firearm, be it handguns, or rifles. Especially rifles at long range. At 700 yards with an M40A3 you better be a Marine Sniper. The farther from your target you are the more skilled you have to be, because you have to account for wind, bullet drop, weight, and target movement. Even more skill is required if you don't have a spotter.

This is also CLOSE COMBAT we're talking about. Using a gun at that close a range would be a waste of bullets.

Yea, no. Mile long shots aren't impossible, but few outside the military that haven't worked with guns most of their life can't do it, infact a half mile shot is hard to pull off. Not to mention aiming for the head is a waste of time at extreme range, its a smaller target than the torso, which with a 30.06 would be a death blow.

Vital organs like the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and so on. Even loosing momentum it will penetrate the flesh then once inside turn into a pinball because it wont make it back out.

Especially compared to a few days ago when I was at Sears with my girlfriend and her dad; her dad was looking for tools of some sort, and my girlfriend, who works at a different tool store, recommended that her dad shop where she works instead. And then everyone was talking about tools and I felt SO out of place. :< I felt like such a woman...
