At least my parents are somewhat tech savvy
My dad works with computers, but he's several years out of date I think. I don't really ask him for computer help much anymore because I have surpassed him in knowledge and he usually can't help me when I have a problem. I'm like why don't you know this, you're an IT guy right?
And he's like "actually I'm those guys' boss"
And I was like
And my mom made her own website, well the easy way with iWeb or whatever. (which is basically about as hard as putting together a powerpoint) She used to be a graphic artist in the 80's and she wants to get back into it again and take some computer classes
And I'm like uh... it's much harder than you think But I admire her ambition.

I went down the street to check on an application, and I threw up right in front of everybody. I knew I wasn't feeling right, but why in front of everybody... why the second I go up to the manager to determine whether or not I get an interview... so I awkwardly walked out of the store

If you're over 40, just don't take a computer class. Just DON'T. You're an idiot and you're a lost cause.
Okay.

The exception is if you're already a computer professional of some sort. Honestly, I think even people with some lesser related experience like electrician could probably benefit from it. It really depends on the type of computer class and the person in question, because there are some smart people who just never went to school, but still know shit or know how to learn shit. But yeah, if we're talking Intro to Operating Systems it might be a little bit wasteful.

I remember my school had an intro to MS Office class that was prerequisite to like, everything. I was so afraid I would have to take it in order to prove my proficiency in basic software...

A lot of the time there's usually a test you can pass, or you can talk to an advisor or the dean and get special permission to skip a class if you prove you're 1337 enough

I'm a member of the socialist party, despite having my own political philosophy. :\

I've read all sorts of pages on political positions, and the one I've seen that is closest to my views is Imperialism. Wtf mate?

I don't remember that happening. I remember a lot of pissed off people.
Unless you mean we were all pissed at Bush together. I might believe that.

My own intuition actually leads me towards Imperialism as well. The two problems of the position though are:
1. It requires an untenable investment of resources. Every Imperialistic empire has eventually stretched itself too thin and collapsed in some sense or another (even Britain). 2. Trying to centrally manage the problems of other cultures from a distance is ineffective and tends to actually exacerbate and create problems.
Plus, when you pull out (which you inevitably have to, due to #1), you leave a huge power vacuum and take away all of the structure that was holding things together.

I hate it when people identify themselves as something like Communist when they live in a Democracy. You have no choice. You live in a democracy, so you are a democrat. You can't do SHIT.
