| I've been steadily becoming more and more depressed because I always wish that my grandfather could've stayed healthy and alive for a few more years. <:/ I've been seeing more and more of him in myself as of late. I really wish he was here... | |

| one thing that still enrages me to this day, after over 6 years is the time my step dad read my journal. I wrote down how much I despise my step dad. so he's like "HOW DARE YOU WRITE THAT ABOUT ME" yea... yea, how dare I have MY private thoughts read by a prick who decided my privacy means nothing, rummaging through my room, and looking through MY things. how dare IHE'S where every ounce of my anger comes from. he's the reason I wait for everybody to leave somewhere, so I can scream at the top of my lungs just to help me get through another day of living with a person that's lower than shit. ...ugh, that felt good | |

fuck... Part of the reason this economy is fucked, perhaps irreparably so, is because our culture has come to treat experience as a liability. After all, why should Kat stay with any company if he has experience when all these other companies will hire him in a heartbeat if he's mistreated there, right? Don't take this the wrong way, but by some measures you have a better shot than he does because, in theory, a company could basically control your life and at your age, you don't have the experience (or balls) to do anything about it. And that's what they want. A culture of weak, flaccid boys instead of men. And then my Liberal friends wonder why I veer so hard to the Right lately.

| I'm 21... I should be at a point where I can afford my own place, but I can't even afford my own food.
what the fuck am I supposed to do? I can't even afford to get my GED in order to get me started.
even hearing people talk about how they have like, $5,000 as if it's nothing, when I've never had more than $300 in my hands.
eh, why do I bother. it's only a matter of time before I'm homeless again, and those thoughts come rushing out once again

my IQ is more than likely just a few points above mentally retarded. If that was the case, you wouldn't be able to acknowledge it. :V Hmm... Maybe during the summer you can do some odd jobs around your neighborhood - mowing lawns, washing cars, walking dogs, that sort of thing, save up some money to take the test again. And since it's your own money, you'll be more motivated to study the fuck out of all the material to make sure you pass.

He's right, Milo; in some job areas, you'd have a better chance than me. One of any employer's fears is that they'll hire and train an employee and they'll get a better offer and leave. Someone hires a 41 year old with 20+ years of varied experience behind them, they're always going to be wondering when that person is going to jump ship for greener pastures (mixed metaphor soup, anyone?) No one will ever come out and say that; but as one of my varied job responsibilities was overseeing the hiring process and conducting background checks, I know it came up during interview boards. "If we hire him, he's just gonna quit and go somewhere else in six months." Always over or under qualified. I put in an application at a Red Lobster, for any position, front or back of house. Met with the manager, who sat down and looked over my resume. He got a pained look on his face and asked why I was applying for server or dishwasher or something like that. I told him, hey, I've been looking for a job for months now, and I've got to earn something. Washing dishes isn't the best job but it's a paycheck and I've done it before. He was quiet for a minute, and told me that with my background I should be applying for manager positions. I didn't bother telling him that I had, but that I didn't have direct experience in restaurant management so they passed me over- Overqualified to be dishwasher, underqualified to be a manager. Fuckit. I'm just gonna start back to work on my book during the slack job times. Not that I'll ever earn anything as an author, but it'll give me something to do after trolling the job boards for the day.
