It's not hipster, it happens with popular independent music. Really underground artists can't afford to discriminate like that, and if you can't find their music it's because nobody cares enough to upload it in the first place. But once these artists get a bit successful it goes to their heads and then they censor ALL of their songs! At least Mainstream artists have stuff on VEVO, and there's so much demand that they can't keep up with removing all the uploads of their songs that people post so you can obviously find them.

I know a couple screamo bands that were so god awful, yet I loved them and still do for whatever reason
Like, the sound can only be described as Elmo screaming and screechy disharmonic guitar pieces, yet I was able to listen to this and enjoy it regularly
