You know the difference between tumblr and reddit?

When you subscribe to somebody's tumblr, there are no guarantees. They could totally change what they're posting tomorrow, and then you have to quit watching it.

When you subscribe to a subreddit, it is definitely going to be about the same thing forever, and you will be exposed to content you are interested in almost exclusively.

I dont follow people on Tumblr for topic-specific things, I follow them for good art. I treat Tumblr as an art community, and I am part of an art community on Tumblr, and its a fairly good art community too. The way Reddit is set up, I dont see it being good for trying to get recognition as an artist because it feels like an imageboard. If you draw something and put it up there, yeah you probably get comments and such, but the thing that Tumblr does that Reddit wont is that Tumblr spreads the image around, which is why it works so well as an art community. One person who follows you sees your picture, they reblog it, some other people see it, possibly follow you or reblog it as well, and the cycle goes on.

I honestly dont think Reddit would have EVER gotten me anywhere with my art and I probably would have just up and quit like I had intended to do long ago.
