honestly, my love affair ended pretty fast. granted, it's probably a lot of things. i'm mad into guitar practice, and when i got it my girlfriend was visiting and when she went home, playing it reminded me of that fact. but even aside from that, the combat's pretty clunky and the animations are kinda stiff and awkward. not saying it's a bad game, just saying it's not quite as mindblowing as people make it out to be.

New Vegas was awesome for me. Is it anything like New Vegas?

Very similar, though obviously without guns. One big difference though is the main way you boost skills is by actually using those skills. So for example, you can attempt to pick a lock no matter your skill level, and if it's too hard you'll probably fail a bunch of times, but each time you do you your lockpick skill goes up a bit.

I didn't think this thread was still active. I'm somewhat addicted to the game. Probably because I was addicted to Oblivion. I play it on Xbox 360 so I don't have the convenience of console commands to fix bugs (some of which have become rather annoying). If you've played Oblivion, you'd agree the graphics and animation are better, but the game is still loaded with scripting errors that UESP will tell you about. And I will admit the random NPC chatter gets repetative after a while.
Still I love the scenery. Particularly the night sky. The music is pretty nice too. And being a fan of dragons and adventure, it was essential for my game collection.

Fucking school work and the human need for sleep is the only thing stopping me from installing and playing this right now

Looks like this week's homework load will be lighter than last week's, unless my teacher pulls some crazy shit tomorrow (is very, very possible)

Im using an xbox on a 15 year olf television to play, the details are amazing including the tapestries on the walls and beautiful rugs where I can easily make out where the stitching is.

Well I'm getting some major framerate issues and lag
It's playable but difficult and will probably cause me to die if I don't adjust some settings
I'm sure it will run great on low settings but the graphics...
(I should just buy a nice new PC)

I think it's because my video card only has 512MB of vRAM, the basic requirement for Skyrim I believe
My graphics card should still be holding up okay in 2012 for most things, maybe not this generation of games though

well I can't run skyrim on the highest settings, but it works perfectly fine on mostly medium settings. what kills my performance with almost every game is shading. it's like

highest shadow graphics: well your game runs at .0003% frame rate, but just look at those shadows!

lowest shadow graphics: sure, you can run at 100% frame rate, but... the shadows don't look quite as nice. I mean you can sort of slightly see the pixels!

I make sure and keep the most important one's as high as possible. I swear, lowering character and environment graphics just ruins the fucking game for me unless the game isn't meant to look gorgeous. I mean I can deal with crappy graphics in fallout cause the graphics were never really that good in the first place

but you take away my skyrim or crysis 2 graphics and...

I'm able to run Portal 2 with fairly good graphics settings good performance. I suppose Skyrim is in a totally different league though.

I suppose I could try turning down settings I don't care much about, and maybe even try to turn up the texture settings. My computer can handle textures pretty well but it's stuff like shaders and anti-aliasing it sucks at.

I am really awful at hand to hand combat. It feels soooo slow with all these heavy armor and weapons. I think I wanna be an Argonian.
Also I need alteration skills so I can block magic

The only game I've ever refused to play without graphics maxed out is Mirror's Edge, but that's just because the graphics are basically the entire point of it.

I'm a Conjuration Expert, and Second in Dual Wielding swords, then sneak and Restoration magic.
Wards are fun to use as long as you have lot's of magika and a good ward, it's fun to use.

BE ARGONIAN. they're sort of a challenge to make hot, but it's possible.... like my character ;V

they're the best race anyway. they're like, mostly immune to diseases, and can breathe underwater. MURR >:U
