That's like saying what's the point in buying...anything. Stuff progresses and improve upon it's predecessor. It can't be helped. Cars, medicine, computer parts, phones, consoles, cameras, furniture, houses. It all improves.

as a comedian I once saw on TV said, canoes have pretty much progressed about as far as they can. no one says "oh, dude, don't buy a canoe now, you should see the kinds of canoes coming out next year!"
