Because as much as you'd love to believe you're such tolerant, accepting, open-minded and sensible people, you're the polar fucking opposite, and the way you cope with the cognitive dissonance every time y'all encounter anything that puts the real you in stark contrast to the "you" inside your head is to, in a nutshell, be an asshole...

Augh. My eye has been messed up all day. It won't focus, so then in an attempt to focus, my eyes cross (involuntarily). It is so annoying. I can't do anything! ... Well, I edited a commission earlier, but it was really difficult.

Yeah, and I could say that of myself, but frankly it'd be a cop out. But if you want to tell yourselves that, and I'm somehow this uniquely evil person in a way another person simply can not be, whatever, more power to you. And I find it morbidly fascinating/amusing that you and so many others I've known think this is me being angry. I dunno, maybe it's just that a person sets their standards just a little higher after a certain number of concussions, trips to the hospital for stitches and I think in one case a blood transfusion (though I can't remember if that was just for the surgery I had to repair one of those injuries or due to said injury), brawls where complete strangers who don't know you from Adam feel the need to intervene, probably more out of concern for their own safety than giving a rat's ass about you. Yeah, I contend most people have had the luxury of never seeing just how angry I can really get. Not really, but I've considered diagnosing the people whose job it'd normally be to either diagnose me with something like that or give me a clean mental bill of health with being unable and/or unwilling to really do that job...

I listened to the Mobb Deep album with Shook Ones Part II on it, thinking it'd just be that one song which is any good, but the whole album is like that song, it's pretty damn awesome.

I had a dream I was at like, a mini bootcamp thing. Like for a weekend.

It was murrlicious. Not sexual, but there were drill instructors everywhere.

There's got to be some way to spin this... Bill's not out to troll, he plays a character tailor-made to manipulate a very gullible demographic. It's probably something to do with his Laissez-Faire economic policies and his treatment of corporations as people. JCP has the right to do what they want, and if they tank as a result, it's their fault. If ordinary people get together and tell JCP it can or cannot do something, that's filthy dirty socialism.

Pretty much this in a nutshell, and he repeatedly spells it out in that clip. Basically the guest says "JC Penny is promoting 'the gay lifestyle' just by having a gay spokesperson, and that's wrong" and Bill's retort is "you'd tell a private company what they should or shouldn't do, and that's worse". These guys praising him for a change really need to check themselves and, first, listen to what he actually says and, second, understand where it comes from, ideologically, which is hardly a better place than where the Right usually stand in the culture wars. Basically all he does is support a company's right to make an exception to the usual rule of wholesale discrimination of any and all "other" kind.

I will say, in this rare instance he does seem to genuinely be seeing gays as actual human beings, or at least he's talking about them as if they were, but it's really just the same kind of manipulative, banal cynicism inherent to all Market Fundamentalists talking there - which is the kind of fundamentalism people really need to be more afraid of than Christian fundamentalism.

edit: also forgot to mention, at one point he makes a quip about these "Million Moms" being no different from the "Loony Liberals" who'd yank him off the air if they had their way. So not only is his mind still firmly planted in the Bush years, he thinks someone like him and someone like Ellen have anything in common.
